                                                                               League History
The Suburban Pistol League has been conducting  NRA Bullseye matches for more than 50 years.. There were other teams at one time, now we have four teams shooting Bullseye every week.

Newark
pistol club.... established in 1932
I started shooting with the Newark Rifle and Pistol Club in the early 1970's. At that time we were shooting in Seton Hall. There was too many members on the Newark team, more than 20, so the Newark team split in two. After a few years, Seton Hall closed it's range and the league suspended our matches till a new venue could be found. Soon we were able to rent range time at the Kearny PAL. In the 1990's the Kearny range was closed and demolished. For a short time we shot at the Bullet Hole in Belleville. Then we were  able to hold matches at the Union County Pistol Range. Today the Newark team has approximately 9 members.

When we went to the county range it was run by the Union County Parks and Recreation Department. Now the range is run by the U.C. Sheriff's Department. By special arrangement with the Union County Sheriff, Suburban Pistol League has permission to use the range one night a week.
